The Wave
Nature Network
Across the Beatrix Canal, The Wave forms a bridge where only animals can cross the water. As an interpretation of the new road structure in the north-west of Eindhoven, this fauna bridge was also installed. Municipality of Eindhoven asked me to create a landmark color and area wood.
This faunaduct is more than a bridge and a connection between banks. It represents a representative symbol.

This project came about in cooperation with FibreCore Europe. They produce high-strength lightweight composite bridges, lock gates and bridge decks for infrastructure.
Area-owned-wood
The design will contribute to the image of, and be specific in appearance in this area. The design adds a structure that strengthens existing qualities and adds other structures to enhance existing nature and create a stronger and better functioning nature network.
By using area wood, we are giving a 2nd life to trees that had to give way in area transformation.
Landmark
Raspberry red is an active color at the edge of the color spectrum. The color of zest for life and resilience, playful and full of passion. A symbolic reference to the renewal of, and activities in, the area.
The wavy line a reference to the water under the faunaduct. The span will be an intriguing play in water reflection and landmark for passersby.
In this article from the Eindhovens Dagblad of you can read all about the fauna passage and find a video clip of the placement.
