Tree of Comfort and Hope

The Tree of Comfort and Hope is a monumental artwork symbolizing hope and comfort, designed in collaboration with 18 young people from the Udens College.
These youth have translated their personal stories of loss, longing and comfort into individual works of art.
Each of these stories, sometimes very intimate and sensitive, has been incorporated into the bigger picture of the tree.
Their creations form unique “places of solace” within the artwork and reflect their outlook on hope for the future.

Material Corten steel
Location Liberation Park Uden

The tree, made of durable Corten steel, finds its roots in the rich history of Uden, where for centuries comfort was sought at the old linden tree of Our Lady of the Linden. In response to the need for a contemporary symbol of hope and comfort for young people, the idea for the “Tree of Comfort and Hope” was born. The robust material contrasts beautifully with the fragile emotions depicted by the young people. This work of art will take a prominent place in the Liberation Park in Uden, where it will provide a resting point for anyone seeking solace or hope in the public space.

This project is an initiative of Art & Co Foundation, supported by several partners. It reflects the power of collaboration between artist, students, and community, and provides a platform for youth to have their voices heard. Following the temporary display at Museum Krona the tree can be admired at its permanent location in the park.

Tree of Comfort and Hope is not just a work of art, but a space for reflection, connection and future perspective, for and by the youth of Uden.
